Hi,

I am looking at the licensing for Cart Viper because I like what I see and if I understand it correctly, if I buy a single server license, and create a portal on that server for a customer of mine, they can use Cart Viper as well.  Is this correct?

Hi Tom

We are have two license types for Cart Viper.

Single Portal - This means you can install Cart Viper on a single DNN portal. This would give you one store for a single website in affect.

Singe Host - This is where you have one IIS website and one MS SQL database which is hosting multiple portals. If you have a single host license you could install a store in each portal within that web application.

We don't have a license which lets you install multiple versions of Cart Viper on a server in multiple web applications.
The most popular license is the Single Portal. I hope this answers your question. If I can be of further help please let me know.

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the clarification.  It definitely sounds like what I want is a Single Host license.  My customers have separate portals within one DNN installation so the Single host license should cover that.  I am assuming then that if I farm my DNN servers, I will need a single host license for each DNN installation on each server.    I have intentions of farming the DNN installations in the future, so it makes sense to me that I would need additional host licenses at that time.

Thanks,

Tom

Hi Tom

Yes if you had multiple servers or multiple web sites define in IIS then you would need to license the Cart Viper stores within those portals.

A Single host would let you run multiple Cart Viper stores for each portal within a web application. Therefore so long as you have more than 2 stores on a web application this works out cheaper than purchasing individual Single Portal licenses.

Regards

Mark
